What makes the Mill School different?

What makes The Mill School different? Our relentless optimism.
The students of The Mill School have been unsuccessful in public school settings. Our students are often identified as having behavior problems, being at risk for failure, being emotionally disturbed, or worse. These failures become a sense of hopelessness and defeat for the child.
By taking a positive, proactive and flexible approach, The Mill School offers opportunities for success that help students grow confident in their abilities and themselves. We build on each success and focus on moving forward.
Our flexible approach gives students a say in their own curriculum and offers varying methods of instruction and educational settings so each student can find the way and place that best suits their learning needs.
But more than just academics, The Mill School is a safe haven. Our students are welcome to use our kitchen to develop culinary skills, make or get a hot meal and bring food home for their families. Our staff is always available to listen to and support our students whether they are having trouble at school or home. Here students have the comfort of knowing that no matter how they are feeling or behaving, they are accepted for who they are.
Every Mill School activity is designed to create opportunities to establish positive connections with others.
The result is a program that increases student participation and engagement and improves the chances that students will successfully complete their education and enjoy a more positive future.
We are committed to providing open, caring and proactive educational, social and vocational opportunities for young people struggling with day-to-day life.
